Environmental Defense Fund links science, economics, and law to create innovative solutions to society's environmental problems, including clean energy, global warming, threatened ocean resources, and endangered species. Established in 1967, this non-partisan organization works constructively with business and government leaders to protect the environmental rights of clean air, clean water, healthy food and flourishing ecosystems for all people, including future generations.
Environmental Defense Fund receives less than 1% of its financial support from corporate donors, garnering most of its support from generous individuals. Many become Partners for the Environment, for which they make regular donation throughout the year. Environmental Defense Fund maintains a vibrant Action Network, which connects environmental and social groups around the globe, and alerts an online activist community to send emails and faxes on timely issues to legislators and other policymakers. This online tool inspires concerned citizens to raise their voices about pending government actions and environmentally-unfriendly business practices.
In addition to providing financial support, these donors take action and use the power of technology to strengthen their cause. They deliver the same exuberance to energize all causes they take up from environmental to social, and political to humanitarian.
